Guide for Electric and Gas Powered RC Cars,Trucks & Buggies
The fastest and most exciting category,is gas powered RC cars . They can go as fast as 50 to 60+ mph . The 1/8th gas cars go 70 to 80 mph in competition races. Cen CTR 5.0 is coming out with 90+mph on road gas powered RC cars.
Its also called a nitro radio control car because the rc hobby fuel used contains nitromethane to increase speed and horsepower. Also popular are the 1/10th on road nitro touring cars. Cen CTR5 can reach 90mph, and the Nitro 4TEC 70mph, and more.
For beginners, I recommend an electric radio control car… easier to maneuver, build, and maintain. New to the radio control hobby are the Formula 10 Cup racer, HPI Sprint 2 Flux, Tamiya F104 and M05 and Drift Cars.
If you prefer racing indoors or have limited space to play, there are small but fast micro and mini RC cars. Favored models are the 1/28th Kyosho Mini-Z & 1/18 HPI Micro RS4. One of the hottest segments of the hobby.

For wild dirt action, the 1/8th off road gas RC buggies are the most durable and fastest around an off road track. These 4×4 speed demons reach speeds of 40+ mph. There are also truck versions called Truggies.
For remote control truck enthusiasts, a large section on remote control RC trucks, including electric, nitro, monster, mini RC trucks and RC rock crawlers. Fast growing is the remote control truck for the short course… great for novices and experts.
There’s are also 1/10th off-road electric remote control buggies such as the RC10B4 which are great racing buggies for the beginner.
